In the 1990s, Kristina Nolan and her mom moved into Butterfly Grove Apartments near North Fresno
Church (NFC), fleeing a dangerous and unstable situation. They arrived with very little, but found
connection and care through NFC’s youth group. The church came alongside them with food, job support,
and a welcoming community. What made the biggest impact wasn’t flashy—it was the consistent
presence and love that met them in their insecure situation.
That steady, faithful support changed Kristina’s life.
Today, Kristina is giving back in the very neighborhood that raised her. For the past six years, she has
served at Robinson Elementary—first as a counseling assistant and now as the Community Schools
Coordinator. She helps remove barriers for students, many of whom live in the same apartment complex
where she grew up.
Through Kristina’s leadership position, she is helping make our partnerships between North Fresno
Church, FACE, Robinson School, and Butterfly Grove stronger and more resourceful. Together, we’ve
provided food, transportation, ESL classes, and holiday gifts to families in need. Kristina is living proof
of what long-term presence and hope can do.
She once received hope, now she helps restore it.
