Many people gathered on Saturday, June 15th to celebrate the first anniversary of Thrift on Blackstone and of course to take advantage of the 50% off discount for the day. Everyone seemed to be excited about the treasures and deals they found for sale and enjoyed snow cones and other snacks provided by FACE.
The celebratory mood lasted throughout the day with the net sales totaling $3,444, which was their biggest day yet! What an encouraging way to celebrate the first year of business!
Thrift on Blackstone had a good first year! They have felt the support from many churches that have provided them with donations, volunteers, and shoppers. Based on their reviews, they are being true to their motto, which is to “Redeem Goods, Lives and Neighborhoods.” People feel welcomed in the store by the way they are treated by the staff and volunteers and by the way the store is kept clean, organized and items marked at reasonable prices.
FACE recommended April Imboden and Kathy Ford as potential employees who had barriers to employment. It has been a great year for April and Kathy who have grown in their roles. These two are both very hard working, focused women whose gratefulness for their job is evident in the way they perform their tasks, and relate to customers, volunteers and other employees.
A big round of congratulations to Ilone Kasdorf, manager of Thrift on Blackstone, for her creativity and leadership that has made this such a successful year!
