Community food distribution

Along with many challenges, COVID-19 has also given opportunity for the blessing of increased partnerships across our city.  Because of pre-existing partnerships with Metro Ministries and El Dorado Community Development Corporation, we were able to receive food that we were then able to distribute to families that we are connected to.

Over the past couple of months we have provided food for 50 families and 5 organizations or churches. Family Covenant Church, Dakota Eco Gardens, Grace Place, Central Community Church, and Mayfair Elementary School all received fresh fruit. So far, we have distributed 150 cases of fresh fruit and 30 Turkeys as well as 25 cases of Yogurt.

It has been a joy to provide families with these gifts of food. Some folks have been able to take food to their neighbors, as well, which helps create connection and community.  We will be continuing to receive and distribute food throughout the summer.  Amanda Garcia, a recent Micah Project alum, whom we have just hired at FACE will be overseeing this program. If you know a family that would be blessed by fresh fruit and other food donations which arrive bi-weekly, please call the FACE office (559-431-3223). We are grateful for the generosity of local farmers and companies that are donating this food and it is a joy to be able to connect the food with many who are overjoyed to be receiving the blessing!
